Thought I'd add a positive new user experience to this forum.
Joined a few weeks ago during the hype and was shocked like everyone at the potential entry costs.
To be honest if I wasn't a huge football fan I would have walked away without a second thought. However I love football and loved the concept so I literally couldn't walk away. I was pretty hooked. Scouting players on sorare data, thinking of different strategies, doing the maths, etc.
It was hard to fight the desire to just jump in but thankfully I resisted and only invested after probably a month of research. In hindsight, I could have waited even longer.
In the end I decided to start building an Asian team. This was definitely not what sucked me into this game. I've no interest or knowledge of the Asian leagues. However, as they will play through the summer I thought it was the way to go.
After setting a budget of 100e per player, I literally sat at the computer for the whole weekend trying to build a team (I have a life I swear).
In the end I bought 4 Asian players and one euro forward. Got a nice referral card on top. U23 mid who's captain of Genk in Belgian league.
So ended up paying 540e for 6 guaranteed starters. Not bad but obviously more than I would like to pay to play a fantasy football game.
This weekend was first gameweek for me and my team scored over 270 points. I'm using common goalkeeper btw. So this was a great result. 30e return already.
The way I looked at it was, if my team pulls 15/30e a gameweek (sometimes can be twice a week). I'd have my investment back in 20-40 gameweeks.
I'm pretty chuffed with that result and gives me confidence that I can see a return on this in the long term. I'm not in this for a quick buck or for the NFT hype. Im in it cause I love the idea and I see the potential in the platform. I'm only upset that I didn't find this a year ago haha.
But I'll troop on with my Asian superheroes and see where it takes me. Do some wheeling dealing if I can and try arrive at start of next season with European team that I can be proud of!
